BREMER, Barbara (Schreefer)
Barbara died peacefully at Chilton Hospital on Sunday, January 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband of 63 years William, and three of her 4 living children. William G. from East Greenwich, RI., Thomas (Laksanara) from Bear, DE. and Margaret (Scott) Patterson from Mendham, NJ., her daughter Mary (Agostino) Morelli is from Hernando, FL.
Barbara is survived by her ten adored grandchildren, Kalista, Maverick, Venita, Nicha, Jolaine, Mark, Augie Jr., Alicia, Jesse, and Matthew. Her sister Virginia Tippins of Jacksonville, FL., Bill’s sister Hildegard Heinz (Thomas), Dorothy O’Shea (Joseph), Hubert (Jean) Bremer, Bill’s twin sister, Elizabeth Albers, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her two sons, Joseph (12/3/1959) and Robert Anthony (12/31/1966), her grandson Joseph Patrick, and her brother Harold (Catherine) Williams of Tucson, AZ.
Barbara was a registered nurse who graduated from St. Peter’s School of Nursing in New Brunswick. She worked at St. Peter’s Hospital, Holy Name Hospital, and the V.A. Hospital in East Orange. She was a full time stay at home mom who loved to volunteer especially at DePaul High School. You knew “Mrs. Bremer” was there, the clinic was always full even with the principal SR Patricia visiting, they loved her. She was the mom to many friends, driving them to many functions and gifted in consoling them.
Barbara had such a creative mind and had so many talents; carpentry, electrical, master gardener, remembered mostly for her tomatoes and cucumbers, building bridges, picnic tables, brick patio stones, paths, terraces, and a chimney.
Barbara saved many lives; she kept a baby alive for 24 hours, saved her husband when he was misdiagnosed in the hospital many years ago, saved a neighbor from drowning and saved her sister who was bleeding after an operation. She was a celebrity, with compassion that showed no bounds even in high pregnancy with our soon to be born daughter Mary Barbara, 61 years ago, she was pictured on the front page of the NY Daily News holding an abandoned girl.
Barbara belonged to numerous senior clubs, Wanaque, Bloomingdale, and Pompton Plains. She was loved by many and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sweetness and her gorgeous blue eyes and curly hair, but most of all for the love of her family and many friends. We all love you mom.
