Carmine Thomas Beneventine

On Saturday, November 21, 2020, Carmine (Ben) Beneventine, 89 years young, was taken unexpectedly to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on April 20, 1931, in Brooklyn NY to the late Rosaria and Benjamin Beneventine. Carmine grew up in Brooklyn with his five siblings.Carmine was married to love of life, Marilyn, for 68 years, they shared a wonderful life together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. On November 4, 1949, Carmine and Marilyn met at a high school dance. He was so enamored with her that he took a bus, a train and a subway for their first date. On Valentines Day, 1951, they got engaged and married on January 5, 1952. On January 31, 1952, he entered the Marines and was stationed in Cherry Point, NC. Carmine was a Marine Court Reporter, and after his discharge from the Marines he was a Court Report for the Air Force. In 1954 Marilyn and Carmine began their family in Richmond Hill, NY with their 4 children. In 1957 he began to work at IBM in New York City as a Human Resource Manager. In addition, he attended St. Johns University in Jamaica NY. He graduated in 1962 with a Masters Degree in Business. In 1970 IBM relocated him and their next stop was Wayne, NJ. He retired from IBM in 1993 after 35 years of employment. In 1975 he faced a very serious health challenge. Instead of feeling despair he became an advocate for the American Cancer Society and helped other people find their voices. With his usual humorous style he conducted presentations at many elementary schools for the non-smoking campaign. He loved going to Broadway shows, the movies, bowling and playing poker. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He brought so much laughter and joy to everyone that crossed his path, he was a great storyteller and loved to tell jokes. Carmine touched the lives of many and his light will continue to shine in our hearts forever Carmine is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marilyn, his daughters, Susan Tereskiewicz and her husband Joe, Carol LaGreca and her fianc David Ball and sons, Robert Beneventine and his wife Terry, and Steven Beneventine and his wife Rosetta. Carmine was blessed with 13 adored grandchildren. Michael, Bryan, Katie, Nicholas, Paul, Annamarie, Steven, Ashley, Victoria, Kevin, Sophia, Brett and Jason. He was predeceased by his parents Rosaria and Benjamin, his brothers, Paul, Nick, Mark, Joey and his sister Rosalie. A mass will be held Saturday, December 19 2020, 11 am at Holy Spirit RC Church, 318 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pequannock, NJ 07440.
