Agnes W. Matthews

Agnes W. Matthews, age 81, of Pompton Lakes, formerly of Butler, entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital, Wayne.Mrs. Matthews was born October 2, 1925 in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of the late George and the late Agnes (More) Wiley. She married the late Donald H., on June 25, 1949, at the Simpson United Methodist Church, Paterson, N.J.She retired as a nurses aide from the Butler Board Of Education in 1999.Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church, it's Administrative Council, Past President of the Butler United Methodist Women, and actively involved in missions for the church. She was an Agape Circle Leader, actively involved in Bible study, and past president and member of Butler PTA.Devoted wife of the late Donald H. Matthews. Beloved mother of Donald G. Matthews and wife Patricia, Pamela A. Walters and husband Thomas, Debra L. Apel, and Scott G. Matthews. Cherished grandmother of Kathryn, Thomas, Donald, Emily, Matthew, Elizabeth, Nicole, Margaret, Kyle, and Samantha. Loving sister of Florence O' Sullivan and husband William, Douglas Wiley and wife Barbara, brother-in-law Thomas Watt, and sister-in-law Joan Titus. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service will be offered on Sunday, January 21st, 2007, 4:00PM at The Butler United Methodist Church, 5 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ.Memorials may be made to Butler United Methodist Church, 5 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ., in lieu of flowers.
