Allen Curtis Courtney

Allen Curtis Courtney, age 72 of Butler, NJ, passed away peacefully Monday, August 15, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Richard Curtis and Margaret Ann (Adams) Courtney. Allen has been a resident of Butler since 1960 when his family moved here from Media, Pa. He was a member of St. Anthonys Church, and a dedicated member of the Butler Fire Department for 43 years. Allen was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will forever be remembered by his obsession with the Alabama football team, hence his nickname "Alabama Al." A familiar greeting by Al was "Roll Tide!" He was an avid reader, a baseball coach and a lifelong disgruntled Mets Fan. He was always smiling, always positive and always happy. His kindness was felt by all, shared and paid forward by family, friends, and strangers. Allen is the reason this home was filled with laughter and love. His booming voice filled the rooms announcing his presence from a mile away. He was ever curious and always learning. He would say that hed rather be an hour early than a minute late, but yet he put up with my always being late with a sigh and a smile. All this is left behind as his legacy, carried on not just by his children but by all those who have had the privilege to know and love him. Allen is survived by his loving wife Jan Courtney, adored children Katy Kahn and her husband Lennie, Adam Courtney and his wife Tracy, Tom Courtney and Alex Courtney, four grandchildren Chloe, Joey, Cole, and Jason, sisters Janet Courtney and Carol Furches and her husband Michael. Allen was precedents by his sister Elaine Courtney and niece Maria Courtney. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 3:00 pm-8:00 pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home. 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A funeral mass will be offered on Saturday, August 20, 2022, 12:30 pm at St. Anthonys Church, 65 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. Final disposition will be private. . There are no gallery images.
