Arlene Claire Gormley

Arlene Claire Gormley, age 85, passed peacefully at her home in Riverdale on Wednesday, July 27. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Arlene was born in Paterson, NJ to the daughter of late Clarence and late Evelyn (Knowe) Vreeland. She grew up in Riverdale and graduated from Butler High School in 1944. She worked for Mack Molding, Singer Kearfott, and retired from Marotta Scientific Controls in Montville, as an Accounts Receivable clerk, after 31 years of dedicated service. In her retirement, she volunteered at various voting polls for her local community. Arlene was a resident at the Powdermill Condominium complex in Riverdale, where she was an active member of her community and enjoyed the activities and friends she met while she lived there over the past 18 years. Additionally, she was a member of various Senior Citizen groups and took advantage of the various social activities provided by these groups. She loved to travel, play games and simply have a good timeshe was ranked as the #2 Five Crowns player in Riverdale. Her pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her two adored children, Rob Gormley and his wife Monica and Stacey Capriolo and her husband Ray. Also surviving are her four beloved grandchildren, Ashley Andretta, Troy Andretta, Allison Gormley and Connor Gormley and her sisters, Lorraine Moody and Donna Schreyer. Arlene was predeceased by her cherished siblings Clarice Rose, Janice Schmucker, Marilyn DeStaffen and Ward Vreeland. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 30 at Our Lady of the Magnificat, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in Arlenes memory. .
