Arlene M. Schinsky was born 11/1/1936 in Brooklyn, NY. She lived in various locations in Queens, NY throughout her life until moving to a home in Butler, NJ in 1984. She relocated from Butler in December of 2019 to The Greens at Cannondale assisted living facility in Wilton, CT to be near her niece, Marilyn Babkowski, who lovingly looked after her until her death on July 30, 2024.
Arlene is survived by her identical twin sister, Joyce Norgalis, her nephews Stanley Norgalis III and Charles Norgalis, her nieces from Charles Schinsky (her deceased brother) Elaine Burzynski, Jean Mazzotta and Marilyn Babkowski. She is also survived by 6 great nieces and nephews: Stanely Norgalis IV, Timothy Burzynski, Thomas Burzynski, Kristen Guifarro, Alexandra Babkowski and Nicole Babkowski.
Her decades-long career spanned from working for one of the Billy Graham Crusades in the 1950’s to finally settling into her favorite and final job, working as an Administrative Assistant for Salomon Brothers on Wall Street where she enjoyed learning as much as she could about the stock market. She retired in1997 to take care of her dear friend who lived with her in Butler, Ruth J. Fischer. Ruth was affectionately known as “Aunt Ruth” to all of us. Where Aunt Arlene went, Aunt Ruth went with her. They were together until Ruth’s death in 2003, and Arlene will be buried in a plot next to Ruth’s at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Butler according to her wishes.
Arlene was fond of listening to music, singing and socializing. She was most fond of her friends and family; those relationships gave her the most joy. She was a person everyone wanted to keep in their lives. She enjoyed having relevant discussions, and she kept up with current events, politics, and pop culture; she made new friends easily. She often found happiness in reminiscing about her past. She loved to laugh and share good jokes, making other people laugh along with her. She was fond of entertaining and hosting friends and family in her home. We all have wonderful memories of festive gatherings at her house on Bartholdi Avenue in Butler. While she was living in The Greens, she enjoyed keeping in touch with her dear friends and family through frequent phone calls. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be Monday, August 5, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00pm, and a funeral service will be offered 1:00pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
