Our beloved Ashlee Lauren Sanders has peacefully resolved her lifelong challenges with Congenital Heart Disease and DiGeorge Syndrome (22q11.2) on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Through the immense love of her family, and the expertise of New York City medical staff, doctors, and research scientists, she has enjoyed an abundance of laughter, happiness, the joy of her kitty cats, fun travels, and most of all-LOVE, for 39 ½ beautiful years.
Some of Ashlee’s favorite pastimes were texting and laughing with her friends, playing games on her apple devices, enjoying her vast sticker collection, painting and coloring, and being a doting mom to her three dear furbabies, Cayenne, Hazel, and Marigold.
Ashlee brought so much joy to all who knew her, with her kindness, clever wit, humor, love, and generous spirit. Her biggest health advancements were only achieved through her immeasurable bravery. She was most happy when spending special times with her loving sister, Shayna. Ashlee’s best friend in the whole world was her mom, Patricia. Patricia has been her lifelong advocate, protector, and source of comfort and encouragement. The two were inseparable. Ashlee loved teasing her stepdad, Anthony. They had a special bond as parent and child, but also as fun friends.
Ashlee is survived by her mom, Patricia (Capone) Sanders Augustine, her stepdad, Anthony Augustine, her sister, Shayna Sanders, and honorary brother, Mark Wojcik. She is also survived by her Godmother and aunt, Anna Harrison and her husband David Harrison, her aunt, Michiko Capone, her aunt Beverly Sanders, her dear cousins Calli McDermott Knight and husband Jack Knight, Ryan McDermott, Lee Colfax, her beloved nephews Julian and Willem, and a very large and loving extended family and circle of family friends.
Welcoming her home to heaven with open arms are her dad, Charles G. Sanders, her maternal grandparents, Joseph Sr. and Lucy Capone, her paternal grandparents, Charles and Lois Sanders, her Godfather and maternal uncle, Joseph Capone Jr., and her dear cousin, Quintin Capone.
