Barbara (Jones) Van Dyke, 80, residing at Llanfair House in Wayne, NJ went home to be with the Lord on May, 18 2019. On October 15, 1938, Barbara was born in Towanda, PA to George and Naomi (Williams) Jones. When she was four years old, the family moved to Paterson, NJ. In 1956, her brother, George was born and the Jones family was complete. George Sr. was a baker and had his own bakery in Lincoln Park and Naomi was a homemaker. In the years before she graduated Eastside high school, Barbara was an accomplished majorette and baton twirler, leading many of the local parades. At the age of 19 she married, Joseph C. Van Dyke and the couple moved to Wayne. In 1963 they adopted their daughter, JoAnn and their family was complete. Over the years Barbara attended Bethany Church (Paterson), Christ Chapel (Kinnelon), Pompton Valley Christian Assembly (Butler) and in her later years, Abundant Life Worship Center (Lincoln Park). She, her husband and daughter traveled to various churches singing and performing. She spent her later years, walking the halls of Llanfair house and singing hymns to all who would listen. In her early days, when she wasnt singing, she held many different ministry positions, such as: Youth Group Leader, Sunday School Teacher and most important, Prayer Warrior. If anyone had a problem they were always welcome at Barbs home and they were guaranteed a cup of coffee and prayer. She had a passion for her family, helping anyone that needed her, visiting the shore, being with animals, collecting angels and most of all, the Lord. She was known for her funny stories, the poignant experiences that she freely shared, and was surrounded by laughter and love. Her heart was open to everyone, including cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, cows, horses and even goats, they all loved her. She will forever be remembered for her kind and compassionate spirit and sharing her love of the Lord. Her parents, wonderful husband, Joe, and her beloved dog, Shadow, predeceased Barbara. She is survived by many, including: her bother, George Jones; sister-in-law Marianne Jones; daughter, Jo Ann Van Dyke; grand-daughter, Bethany Wisher; niece and nephew, Cindy Thomas and Ronnie Jones; and friends and loved ones too numerous to mention. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Abundant Life Worship Center located at 103 Jacksonville Road in Lincoln Park. A service will be in the same location on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11 AM following with interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
