Barbara Ann Van Der Laan

Barbara Ann Van Der Laan, age 80, of Kinnelon, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Van Der Laan was born in Jessup, PA the daughter of the late John Francis and the late Theresa (Kiley) Charney. She worked for Sherwin Williams in Newark, NJ, worked for 27 years as a crossing guard for the Boro of Kinnelon and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kinnelon Fire Department. She is survived by her devoted husband for 60 loving years, Richard Van Der Laan, her beloved children, Mark Van Der Laan and Kathy Melando and husband Michael, a loving brother, Gerald Charney and his wife Maria, two cherished grandchildren, Christopher Meehan and Kaylyn Melando and two adored nieces, Theresa Charney and Martha Sanchez . Barbara was pre deceased by her dear brother, John Charney. Viewing hours will be Thursday, November 13th , 2014 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ.
