Bennie W Henderson

Bennie Wayne Henderson, age 81, was born to Elizabeth and Ancil Henderson in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 4th, 1941. He had a very happy childhood full of good memories and his uncle Cliff, was even a Pony Express rider! Bennie possessed the same adventurous spirit and, as a young adult, moved to New York and later, New Jersey, where he would become my husband of 55 years (2 weeks shy of 56). The church where we were married, ‘Our Lady of Blue Mountain’, stood in an isolated and serene area along the Appalachian trail in the Township of Walpack. As it turned out, we were to be the only couple ever to marry there as the church’s remote location would make it a challenge to build and maintain a large enough congregation. The deconstruction of the church was, in my mind, a symbol that our marriage could not be broken. This little church, in a way, had been there for just us. Bennie is survived by his wonderful children, Vincent, Debra, Bennie Jr, William and Kimberley. Additionally, there are his sister, Arline and his grandchildren, Vincent, John, Shane, Joseph, Dylan, Anna, Brianna and Amanda and Ashley. He loved our little house by the lake in Kinnelon, where we have resided for 52 years.!

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022, 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ.
