Carlo Imparato, 99, died peacefully the night of January 29, 2021, following the company of family and loved ones. His extraordinary smile was introduced on April 2, 1921, when he was born to Joseph and Philomena Imparato in East Paterson, New Jersey. Following the untimely death of his mother during childbirth, Carlo, the eldest and only son, became a skilled bread baker and pasta maker at the height of the Great Depression to help provide for his five sisters. He attended a vocational training school in Paterson and served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. In 1945, Carlo married his beloved Johanna Esposito of Paterson, and together they built homes in East Paterson and Bloomingdale, New Jersey, where they raised the great joys of their lives, Phyllis and Michael. Carlo remained in Bloomingdale for 64 years. For 50 years, he worked at the Watson Machine Company in Paterson, where he ultimately became shop manager. In retirement, he made deliveries for the Bloomingdale Florist from 1993 2008. Part of the heart and soul of the shop, Carlo was "not allowed to resign until the owners retired. Carlo was widely regarded as a charming, old-fashioned gentleman with an impeccable sense of humor. Smart, wise and handy, he was often the first-call, unofficial repairman for his friends and neighbors. Carlo loved traveling with Johanna, fishing, hunting and the outdoors with his son Michael, exploring Italy with his family, his daily conversations with his daughter Phyllis, cannoli and anything Italian: food, opera, wine, weekends at the kitchen table with his grandkids, lunch every Wednesday with his old friends from the Watson Machine Company, working out at the gym until the age of 98, and his regular visits to Kentucky, where he spent time with his best friends, Linda and John. Preceded in death by his wife, Johanna, and sisters Brunetta, Angelina, Josephine and Yolanda, Carlo is survived by his daughter Phyllis Parisi of Bloomingdale, his son Michael Imparato and wife Kathleen of Wantage, his sister Dolores, his four granddaughters, Carla Parisi and husband Michael Weintraub, Maren Baum and husband Doug Baum, Laura deWaal and Casey deWaal, and Michelle Imparato, six great-grandchildren Ayya, Sawyer, Blake, Hudson, Cooper and Nash, as well as many nieces and nephews, Todd Parisi, Linda and John Weber, and his dear friend and caretaker, Rebecca. A private family service will be held at Morrison Funeral Home in Butler, NJ, and Carlo will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Butler. .
