Charles H. Banghart, a cherished life long  member of the Bloomingdale community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 30, 2024, at the age of 83. Born in Dover, NJ, on July 9, 1941, Charles lived a life marked by deep commitment to his work and an unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Charles enjoyed a long-standing career that began with his role as a custodian on the Board of Education in Bloomingdale, followed by his service as a Maintenance Technician for the Department of Public Works, where his reliable nature and work ethic shone brightly. Known affectionately among friends and family for his resourcefulness, Charles earned the playful moniker of “MacGyver” due to his knack for fixing things with duct tape and zip ties.

Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man whose spirit radiated kindness. Family and friends will fondly remember his selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own. His warm demeanor made him a beloved figure—someone who would do anything for anyone. He lived a life of service not only in his career but in how he treated everyone who crossed his path.

Charles proudly served in the Army National Guard during a peaceful time, from 1960 to 1961, adding yet another layer of dedication to his character. His commitment extended to his hobbies as well; he had a passion for gardening and loved to decorate generously during the holidays. Charles was a familiar sight outdoors, often from sunup to sundown and always equipped with his trusty pocket knife, ready for any adventure.

He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory with them. Charles is survived by his devoted daughters Rev. Debbie Rundecker and Susan Katsock, along with her husband Michael; his son Charles Jr.; brothers Ronnie and Larry; sisters JoAnn and Angie; as well as grandchildren Melissa, Kimberly, Brian, Kathryn , Jessica, Nicholas, Robert and Darren, and countless cherished moments with his thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Banghart; his mother, Olive; his beloved wife, Sue; and his brother Raymond. The legacy of love and service that Charles leaves behind will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
