MC GURR Charles J. McGurr Mechanical engineer, WWII Navy pilot, 83 Charles J. McGurr, 83, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Wayne, died on Aug. 17, 2006. Born in Jersey City, Mr. McGurr was a Navy pilot during World War II and a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange. Before retiring, he was employed as a mechanical engineer at the Ralph M. Parsons Corp. in Pasadena, Calif. for 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Blanche (nee Burns); sons, Robert of Wayne, Paul and James of Kemah, Texas, and Joseph McGurr of Wayne; daughters, Mary of Butler and Blanche of Middletown; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two sons, Walter and Charles J. McGurr Jr., predeceased him. A funeral will be Monday, Aug. 21, at 9:15 a.m. from the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, with a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Anthonys R.C. Church in Butler. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundations for Parkinsons Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y. 10163, would be appreciated.
