Charles James Miller

Charles James Miller, 86, more fondly known as “CJ”, passed away on January 22, 2024. He was born at home in Butler, NJ on May 10, 1937 to the late Jesse and Evelyn Miller. CJ was a longtime resident of Newfoundland (West Milford Township, NJ) known as "the flower man on LaRue Road."

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Miller of 64 years and his six children Charlie Miller (Holly), Alan Miller (Donna), Jimmy Miller (Rene), Sally Miller, Susan Rockle (Dave), Lisa Mazurek (Joe) and many grandchildren he cherished dearly who lovingly called him "Pop Pop". He is also survived by his brothers Albert Miller and Harold Miller.

Charles was one of sixteen children and started working at the age of seven setting up bowling pins at Butler Bowl to provide for his family. After marriage, he worked for over 50 years as a mason contractor and other jobs to provide for his wife and children. After retirement, he loved gardening, planting flowers, and canning vegetables. He will be remembered as a hardworking family man and will be dearly missed by many.
