Charlotte Soules, born on June 19, 1933, in Oberhausen, Germany, and a beloved member of her community, passed away on November 15, 2024 at the Oakland Care Center in Oakland, NJ. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her unwavering love for her family and her life-long commitment to bringing joy to those around her.
In 1950, Charlotte made the courageous decision to emigrate from Germany to the United States, a testament to her adventurous spirit and dedication to building a bright future. Her career in food service at Kinnelon High School in Kinnelon, NJ, highlighted her strong work ethic and her passion for nourishing both body and spirit through her culinary talents.
Charlotte's main focus was always her family. She took great pride in being the matriarch, and her loving presence will be profoundly missed by her daughter, Irene Turner (James) and son, Philipp (Nancy). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Patrick Turner (Jeanne), Jeremy Turner (Kristen), and Sarah Hanson (Eric), along with her eight great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Beyond her immediate family, Charlotte was actively involved in her community. She was a charter member of the Butler Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. And a long-time member of the Butler XYZ Club, the Columbiettes, and the Triboro First Aid Squad. These roles reflected her commitment not only to her family but to serving others with grace and generosity.
Charlotte's adventures were not limited to her work; she had a deep love for travel, particularly enjoying cruises that offered her the chance to explore the seas and experience new cultures. Cooking was another passion of hers, where she often crafted meals infused with her love and care, creating lasting memories around the dinner table.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her. Charlotte was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jim Soules, her parents, Heinrich and Charlotte Baum and her siblings Eric, Hedda, Philipp and Friedrich. Her enduring spirit lives on through her family and all the lives she touched throughout her journey.
