Daniel G. Bacher, an award-winning singer, saxophonist, songwriter, magician and entertainer, passed away suddenly on December 16, 2024, at home in Cliffside Park, NJ. Born on January 15, 1978, in Pompton Plains, NJ, Danny lived a life rich in creativity and joy, leaving behind a remarkable legacy etched in the hearts of family, friends, and fans alike.
Danny’s career was a vibrant tapestry woven with musical brilliance and a love for performance. Known for his mastery of the soprano saxophone and his smooth, smoky voice, he took the stage with an infectious energy that set him apart. He skillfully combined his extraordinary musical talents with humor and storytelling, reminiscent of greats like Louis Prima and Mel Tormé. His performances resonated deep within audiences and earned him accolades, including a recent Bistro Award for outstanding achievement in the New York entertainment community. In 2023, he was selected to record Terry Gibbs' Songbook and was deeply involved in a forthcoming Harry Nilsson recording project.
Beyond the glamour of the stage, Danny was cherished for his unwavering happiness and boundless love for his family and friends. He spent a decade devoted to his beloved wife, Erin Beirnard, sharing joys and challenges side by side in life. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Joel and Jane (Van Orden) Bacher, and brother Josh Bacher and brother in law Mike Beirnard, along with his in-laws, Charles Beirnard and Antonia Moras. Danny shared a special bond with his niece, Millie, and nephew, Desi, and maintained close relationships with his uncle’s Jon Van Orden his wife Kathy, Rich Van Orden, and his aunt, Arlene Papper and her husband Marty, as well as many beloved cousins.
Alongside his career in music, Danny was passionately dedicated to arts education in New Jersey. As part of the Educational Arts Team, he shaped the lives of young students by teaching arts-integrated curricula and leading workshops in acting, theater improv, magic, and puppetry. His heart and soul were evident in the co-creation of “The Backyard Players,” a beloved after-school puppet series, and his commitment to Camp Liberty, an arts-based summer program in Jersey City for the past decade, reflecting his belief in the transformative power of the arts.
Danny’s unparalleled talent, warm spirit, and the happiness he radiated will be profoundly missed. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on December 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home in Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held on December 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne, NJ, followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ. In every note sung and every laugh shared, Danny’s light shone brightly. His legacy will continue to inspire, embodying a spirit of joy, artistry, and love that will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
