Diana C Doherty

b. January 14, 1943

OBITUARY--Diana Chambers Doherty (January 14, 1943-April 28, 2022) Diana Frances Chambers Doherty was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to people of all ages. She transitioned to the Fourth Dimension in the wee hours of Thursday, April 28, 2022, at age 79. Diana, named for Apollo's twin sister and Goddess of the Moon and domestic animals, was born to Frederick Randall and Virginia Viola Chambers in Boonton, NJ on January 14, 1943, and raised in Lincoln Park, NJ. After graduating from high school, Diana worked in the banking and real estate professions until one month before her first child was born. Together with her husband, William Richard, she raised 2 children: Erin Patricia and Elizabeth Virginia and 3 dogs, Mae Mae, Jenny Any Dots, and Oliver Milledge. The family spent 5 years in Pittsburgh but considered Kinnelon, NJ to be their home Diana loved reading, people watching, befriending neighbors and their dogs, and serving as Matriarch of her family. She was beautiful inside and out. Ironically--beautiful as Diana was--she disliked being photographed and filmed. People remarked on her resemblance to Elizabeth Montgomery and Princess Grace of Monaco, yet she was infinitely more beautiful inside. As a much bigger boss in the Spirit world, Diana watches over her loving family and others who miss her friendship and mentoring. She was a skilled pianist, singer, bookkeeper, cook and seamstress who filled her home with various genres of song. When her children were growing up, partly in Pittsburgh but primarily in Kinnelon, Diana and her husband, William, served as band parents. She also enjoyed chaperoning for history class field trips to New York City. Her greatest vocation was to care for her family, especially one member with special needs. Diana was a rare combination of extreme toughness and tenderness one could only strive to emulate. Planning for a memorial service--fit for a Goddess--is underway. Once scheduled, it will be held in the St. Hubert's Chapel, Smoke Rise, Kinnelon, New Jersey. Please honor Diana in whatever way feels right. For example, organizations that champion animal welfare or people with special needs reflect her greatest passions in life. . There are no gallery images.
