Dillon Romain passed away April 19, 2019 after a very short illness. A Vernon NJ native, where he played football and lacrosse, Dillon loved his lacrosse & football coaches there and often spoke of his friends and teammates and how he missed them. Under his Lacrosse Coach Randy Mills, Dillon would excel to the NJ Youth All State Team as well as Patriot Lacrosse, coached by Delbarton coach Ruebling. Dillon Romain was a three-year starter under former football head coach Greg Toal during the schools six-year consecutive Non-Public Group 4 winning streak from 2006 to 2011. He scored 26 touchdowns and dashed 1,436 yards for the Ironmen his senior year. Dillon Romain was one of the best to ever run the ball for us," "He was a great kid," said Nunzio Campanile, Romain's offensive coordinator with the Ironmen, "It's devastating." Dillon Romain was named the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year award in 2008, 1st Team All State, 1st Team Parochial All State, Bergen County Player of the year, 1st Team All Conference, 1st Team All County, New Jersey All Star Game NJ VS Northeast (7 States) Most Valuable Player of the game. Old Spice MVP in Don Bosco Preps historic win over California Famed powerhouse Delasalle High School also at Blair Academy 1st Team All League & Prep player of the country. He spent a year at Blair Academy replacing future NFL running back Dion Lewis. Dillon Romain went on to play for University of Albany in 2010 and 2011 and was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year. Shortly thereafter Dillon suffered a career ending shoulder injury which put an end to his football playing days. This was crushing for Dillon, he would remain forever heartbroken. Dillon loved Don Bosco Prep High School, but he loved his friends & teammates there even more. Dillon also liked lacrosse, weightlifting, music, and hiking. Dillon is survived by his loving family, parents Pamela & Joe Romain and sister Shannon. We all will miss his smiling face, and his loving heart, and we will especially miss the warmth of his loving embrace. All services were held in private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dillon Romain Memorial Scholarship fund which will go to future football players/students at Don Bosco who exude the same qualities Dillon Romain possessed which were Dedication, Determination and Love of the Game. Donations/checks can be made out to Don Bosco Prep, 492 North Franklin Turnpike Ramsey NJ 07446, in honor of Dillon Romain Memorial Scholarship. For those who would like to pay their respects to Dillon, there will be a future dedication ceremony upon the completion of Don Bosco Fitness Center, where a coaches corner will be dedicated to Dillon Romain. The completion of the fitness center is planned later this summer and will be announced on the Don Bosco Prep Website for all that would like to attend.
