Donald Alan Spear

Donald Alan Spear, age 76, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Spear was born August 25, 1946, in Paterson, NJ the son of the late Alfred and the late Thelma (Ruocco) Spear. Don graduated from Seton Hall University in 1968 with a degree in Economics. He then served in the Air National Guard and Army National Guard from 1968 to 1975. He worked at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Newark NJ while singing and playing drums for his band the Don Spear Trio.

Don loved to travel to sunny destinations, especially Negril, Jamaica. Every February he would start a vegetable garden which would always have a bumper crop. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janis (Rigolo) Spear of 51 years, his beloved children, Jennifer Buckwald and husband Dave and Bob Spear and wife Amii, his loving siblings, Peter Spear and wife Debra and Barbara Samra and husband John, and his four cherished grandchildren, Jack and Morgan Buckwald and Rebecca and Kyle Spear. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be Saturday, February 4th, 2023, from 2pm to 6pm at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home Inc., 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, N.J. A funeral will be held Saturday 5pm also at the funeral home. The final disposition will be private.
