Donald S. Collins, Jr.

Donald S. Collins, Jr., age 71, of Highland Lakes, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020. Mr. Collins was born in Paterson, NJ, and is survived by his dear father, Donald Collins Sr., his beloved children, Donald S. Collins III, Amanda Hackett and husband Troy and Jodi O Rourke and husband Ed, his loving siblings, Linda Webster, Stephen Collins, Jeffrey Collins, Michael Collins and wife Louise, Noreen Daniels and husband Kevin, Peggy Collins and Jonathan Collins, five cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Kayli, Makenna, Caydence and Colton and many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his beloved mother, Shirley M. Collins and his adored sister, Nanci Struck. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps reserve from 1970-1976 and was a member of the VFW in Pequannock, NJ. He worked for Verizon around northern NJ as a lineman for 30+ years before retiring as a supervisor. Don had an all-around love for nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, and gardener. You could always find him tending to his vegetable garden and flowers. He was an all-around handyman always thinking of projects to build around the house and he was very talented at building beautiful rock walls. He loved to babysit his grandchildren and he was happiest when he was helping others. Viewing hours will be Wednesday, January 29th ,2020, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00am at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
