Dorothy N. Sendak

Dorothy N. Sendak, age 80, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Clifton , died Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover . Mrs. Sendak was born in Passaic , NJ the daughter of the late Peter Paul and the late Josie (Vroom) Zangara. She was the co owner with her husband Edward of Sendak Floor Covering and Sendak Cards and Gifts in Clifton , NJ . Mrs. Sendak was an officer in the Eastern Star Peace Chapter #98 of Clifton , and was Mother Advisor for Rainbow for Girls Chapter #16 of Clifton . She moved to Cedar Crest Village in July of 2006 and remained active by volunteering for various site charities. She is survived by three daughters, Dory Tetradis and husband Dennis of Lincoln Park, Donna Marie De Vasto and husband Dr. Joseph of Sparta , and Dale Schoenig and husband Martin of Pompton Plains, seven grandchildren, Lisa Doiron, Laura Patten, Robert, Christine, and Jaclyn De Vasto, and Janine and Kenneth Schoenig. Also surviving are two adored great grand children and a brother and sister. Dorothy is predeceased by her devoted husband Edward of 55 loving years. Viewing will be on Tuesday, August 18th from 2pm to 4pm, and 7pm to 9pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave. , Butler , NJ . The funeral will be Wednesday, August 19th at 11:00am also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery , Wrightstown , NJ . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice 400 W Blackwell St, Dover , NJ 07801-2525, in her memory.
