Douglas J. Morse passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 4, 2020. He was born in Butler, NJ, in 1930, the son of the late Douglas and Margie (Hopler) Morse. He was a life-long resident of Butler and spent the majority of his career working with the Butler Public School system maintenance staff. Doug primarily focused on preparing and maintaining the sports fields as well as taking care of the districts plumbing needs. He was an Exempt Firefighter and served the town of Butler in this regard for over 60 years! Doug was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Air Force, as a cable communication installer while in Korea. Doug married the love of his life, Joan Reilly in 1958. Together they raised their family in the house he built with his father. He is survived by his beloved children, Teresa and her husband Jeff, Doug, and Kathy and her husband Don; his cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Alyssa and Molly Bernstein; Doug, Anthony and Arielle Morse; and Conor, Patrick and Maeve Harrington. He also leaves his surviving sisters, Helen Guenter and Barbara Bailey and many nieces and nephews. Doug was well-known throughout his community for his gentle spirit, warm smile and sense of humor. He loved being outdoors puttering in his yard, walking his dog or taking a drive with the windows down, listening to Patsy Cline playing on the radio. Getting together with his coffee clutch buddies was another pleasurable activity in his day. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Viewing hours will be Thursday, December 10th, 2020 from 11am to 1pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ, followed by a private burial for family to follow at the Mount Rest Cemetery also in Butler. The new limit on indoor gatherings for facilities is 25% of the maximum allowable building occupancy. Morrison Funeral Home will be able to accept 25 people at a time wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Visitors will be required to use hand sanitizer. Temperatures will be taken.
