Edward G. Hoffman, Jr., a loving father, dedicated family man, and an honorable U.S. Marine veteran passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on November 29, 1933, Edward lived a life marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his selfless spirit.
Edward spent a significant portion of his career at Atlantic Diesel in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. A true embodiment of perseverance, he balanced the demands of work with the joys and responsibilities of family life, always placing his daughter, Susan Drew, first. His love and care for her were palpable and provided a foundation of strength and support that she will forever cherish. The bond they shared will remain a cherished memory, illustrating his endless devotion.
His military service as a United States Marine during the Korean War defined part of his character. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three stars and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, which spoke to his courageous nature and commitment to his country. This dedication extended beyond the battlefield as he continued to exemplify the values of service, loyalty, and integrity throughout his life, always looking for ways to assist family and friends in need.
Edward's hobbies brought joy and fulfillment to his life; he had a particular passion for classic cars, often reminiscing about their beauty and craftsmanship. This enthusiasm was reflective of his appreciation for the decades he lived through, embracing each moment and memory with warmth and affection.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Drew, and son-in-law, Joseph; his brother, Fred Hoffman; his grandchildren, Joseph Drew (Dr. Nikki) and Bryan Drew (Taylor); and his partner, Dorothy Cygon, all of whom will continue to honor his legacy of love and dedication.
Edward will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Harriet (Van Housen) Hoffman, who preceded him in death. Their love story, one of strength and companionship, is a testament to the profound connections Edward cherished throughout his life.
