Eleanor Jean Krapohl

d. July 1, 2022

Eleanor Jean Krapohl (nee Foster), 91, of Butler, NJ, and formerly of Wayne, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2022. Eleanor was born in Haledon, NJ, to Anthony Harold Foster and Eleanor Clara Platz Foster. She lived in Paterson as a child, where she attended School 21 and graduated from Eastside High School in 1948. After graduation she was employed as a bookkeeper, including at the Lotz Brothers Dairy in Clifton, NJ. She was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Haledon, where she was active in the choir and guild for many years. She was very close with her grandparents, Joseph and Clara Platz, and in 1959, along with her sister Norma, they travelled across the country together, fulfilling Eleanors life-long dream of seeing the countrys national parks and her cousins in California. On December 8, 1961, she married George Krapohl and moved to Wayne, NJ. They chose to have a home built in a new development in the Toms Lake area. They picked out the lot with the most trees on it, had a new home built, and started a family. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the George P. Siek Post VFW, girl scouting, a bowling league, and several craft groups. One of her favorite hobbies was creating needlepoint gifts, she was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers, and she was big fan of The Duke, John Wayne. She and her family often spent a week in the summer at Point Pleasant Beach, a favorite destination of theirs. When she and George were dating, it was here on the boardwalk at Martells where they saw a little-known band called The Four Seasons. Eleanor always said, "See America first," and several of their yearly family vacation destinations included Niagara Falls, Alexandria Bay and the Thousand Islands, Colonial Williamsburg, and various locations in New England. When her children were older she returned to the occupation of bookkeeping. She was employed by several companies, including PerPro Inc. in Fairfield, and Cigna Corp. in Wayne. She concluded her career at Paragon Finishing and Dye in Paterson. After retiring, she eventually moved to Butler Senior Community, where she was very active and continued her craft hobbies. She was also a member of the Bloomingdale and Kinnelon Seniors. Eleanor took great pride in her children and her three grandchildren, Emily, Evan, and Troy. She was proud of her grandchildrens accomplishments: Emily graduating from college, Evan becoming an Eagle Scout, and Troy earning a Black Belt in Hapkido. She was especially excited to be present in the delivery room and witness the birth of her third grandchild. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband George in September, 1995. She is survived by her son, Eric and his wife Melissa, of Sparta; her daughter Cheryl, of Haskell; her sister Norma Clifton of Brooksville, Florida; many nieces and nephews; and three loving grandchildren who will miss her deeply.
