Esther Tanner, 83 of Bloomingdale, NJ, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family, Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Born in Zollikon, Switzerland, she was the daughter of the late Walter Hieronymi and the late Emma Kloeti. Esther was a parishioner at St. Anthony RC Church and a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking, baking, playing the accordion, and most importantly, spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Esther worked at the Butler Pork Store, which she co-owned with her husband, for 18 years.
Esther is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Ernest, her loving daughters, Dani Walker and Evelyn Vanderhoff and her husband Jeff, sister Astrid Haug, four adored grandchildren, Marisa Amanda Valkema and her husband Sam, Emily Vanderhoff and her fiancé Sean Carosella, Luke Vanderhoff and his fiancé Amanda Hassinger and Colin Tanner Walker. Esther was very excited at the news of becoming a great-grandmother. Esther was predeceased by her sister, Trudi Dubendorfer, and her son-in-law, Robert Walker.
Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 4pm-7pm at the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, 11:00 am at St. Anthony RC Church, 65 Bartholdi Ave., Butler. Inurnment of ashes will immediately follow the mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, in her memory.
