F. Earl Dean

Frederick Earl Dean, age 87, of Butler died Saturday, November 17, 2007. Mr. Dean was born in Butler, N.J. the son of the late William and the late Emma (Essing) Dean. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He retired from the Butler Police Department, Butler, NJ after 34 years of service serving 19 years as Chief Of Police, from 1964 to 1984. Mr. Dean also worked in the Butler Health Department as a Sanitary Inspector. He was a member of the International Chiefs of Police Assn., the New Jersey Chiefs of Police Assn., the Morris County Chiefs of Police Assn., was a Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police-North Jersey Lodge 18, Past National Trustee of the Grand Lodge of Fraternal Order of Police, member of the Butler Fire Department, Tri-Boro First Aid Squad original Member and Trustee, exempt member of the Butler Fire Department, life member of the New Jersey Exempt Firemans Assn., Tri-Boro Little League Coach, member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 943 in Butler, and the VFW and the American Legion both in Butler. He is survived by his devoted wife Doris for 61 years, his beloved sons Earl Dean Jr. and wife Glenda, and Jay Dean and wife Kathy, his cherished grandchildren Kimberlie, Andrea and husband Jason, Todd and wife Alicia, Jeffrey, and one great-grandchild Mackenzie. Loving Uncle of Richard L. Dean. He was pre deceased by a brother Lawrence Dean. Viewing hours will be Tuesday, November 20, 2007, from 2:00 to 4:00pm & 7:00 to 9:00pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler. The funeral service will be Wednesday 10:00am also at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Butler. Memorials may be made to any of the local organizations that he belonged to, in his memory.
