Father Samuel D. O'Connor, O.F.M. , age 79, of Butler, on November 1,2005. Born in Brooklyn,N.Y., he was founding Vice Principal and Athletic Director of Archbishop Walsh High School, Olean, N.Y., 1958-1962. In New Jersey he assisted at St. Leo's, Elmwood Park, Most Holy Name, Garfield, and St. Elizabeth's, Wyckoff. His longest ministry was at St.Anthony Shrine Church, Boston,MA, 1982-2002.He is survived by his Franciscanconfreres, and nieces Arlene Bell of Upper Saddle River, Jeanette O'Connor of Newtonville, MA, and anephew, Dennis O'Connor of Fairfax,VA. Father O'Connor was aprofessed Franciscan Friar for 54 years, and a Catholic Priest for 49 years. He served in the US Navy, Pacific Theater, during WWII. Father Samuel entered the Franciscan Order in 1950, and was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in 1956.
