Frances Geoghan Reamer, 102, of Pompton Plains, died on Sunday 7 March 2021 at Cedar Crest. She was born on 24 October 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of William Anthony and Edna Mc Guirk Geoghan. She was raised in Brooklyn and Queens Village, New York. She was graduated from the Academy of Saint Elizabeth in 1935 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey in 1940. Frances married Raymond V. Reamer on Thanksgiving Day, 20 November 1941 at Saints Joachim and Anne Church in Queens Village. In 1991 on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary she and her husband were affiliated to the Franciscan Holy Name Province, Order of Friars Minor. During her married years she resided in Roselle, Elizabeth, Westfield, and River Vale before moving to Pompton Plains. She and Ray enjoyed time with their family in the Adirondacks and later at their summer home on Long Beach Island. While living at Cedar Crest she was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Butler. Frances will be remembered as a good neighbor wherever she resided. She put her faith into action helping those in need wherever she lived through her many acts of kindness and compassion. Frances cherished friends and family. Relationships formed in childhood remained throughout her life. She fondly referred to her college friends as the St E.s Gang. Their frequent gatherings meant her children all knew "the Gang" and they became extended family. Frances loved to keep in touch with people especially remembering them on their birthdays. She was an avid handwritten letter writer which she continued until the passing of her last college friend two years ago. She never did understand that phone calls are now "free" and would often prefer a letter than spending "your nickel" talking on the phone. Raising eight children often found her with apron on in the kitchen enjoying cooking and baking family favorites including her signature dessert lemon meringue pie. There was never a holiday meal that Mom wasnt tasked with her delightful potato surprises until her daughters and grand-daughters learned the art of making them. Many a Sunday morning in retirement in River Vale was spent working on the NY Times crossword puzzle and comparing notes with Mr. Paul Van Gieson, whom she admired for his exceptional crossword skills. Frances will also be remembered for her sharp card sense and excellent Bridge playing skills, which her children did not inherit! Dad tried to hone his bridge skills to no avail and fortunately for him she joined a ladies bridge club wherever she lived. Frances enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table conversing and playing games including Rummikub, Scrabble and Crossword Cubes until her final days. She never lost her love of word puzzles. Part of the legacy Frances leaves is her hand knitted sweaters and afghans, needlepoint pillows and artwork -- all ways in which she expressed her love and concern for others by taking the time to create something warm and beautiful for them. She is survived by five sons: Raymond V. Reamer, Jr of Sarasota, Fla., Rev. William G. Reamer of Plattsburgh, N. Y., Paul A. (Mary Theresa) Reamer of Sun City Center, Fla, Thomas R. Reamer of Westwood, N. J., Rev. Mark G. Reamer, O. F. M. of Siena College, Loudonville, N. Y.; three daughters, Sr. Mary Alice Reamer, R. D. C. of Yonkers, N. Y., Anne R.
