Gary P Van Alstyne

Gary Peter Van Alstyne, 70, of West Milford, passed away on January 11, 2022. He was the son of Margaret, nee Ward, and Edward Van Alstyne. Gary was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 26th, 1951. He was the youngest born of 9 children. He served in the United States Army from 1969 - 1971, where he was stationed in Panama. He was a member of Local 363 electricians union. Gary was a big fan of the New York Mets and the New York Giants. His easygoing nature made him a lot of friends, and he was a complete joy to be around. Gary was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to so many people. He will be tremendously missed. Gary is survived by his brother David Van Alstyne, and his sisters, Helen Healy, Marjorie Young, and Arlene Gaccione, many nieces and nephews, his longtime companion Christine Sherman and his son Brian Van Alstyne. Gary was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Edward, his brothers John Van Alstyne, Edward Van Alstyne, his sisters Barbara Florre and Judith Jenkins, his nephews Thomas Young, David Soto, Billy Young II, Kenneth Florre, and Matthew Malloy, and his niece Daisy Ryder. Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January18, 2022 from 9:00-11:00am at the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave, Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am also on Tuesday at the funeral home. . There are no gallery images.
