Bloomingdale, NJGeorge Fred Fatzler, Jr. 88 Passed away peacefully at home at his beloved Glen Wild Lake on November 12, 2014 surrounded by loved ones.?Born August 9, 1926 in Irvington, NJ. He was graduated from Irvington High School and enlisted in the Navy where he served tours of duty during World War II and again during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he attended Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Georgia. He served as a naval instructor and attended naval flight school. After leaving the Navy he was employed as an Assistant Manager of the Freehold Raceway. He then entered his life long career working in Insurance. He worked for The Prudential before becoming an independent insurance and estate planning consultant. He achieved professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Among the organizations of which he was a member are the Freemasons and the Kiwanis. He served many years as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent at the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church.He married the love of his life, Doris Klein, in 1952 in Jersey City. They lived in Cranford three years and then in 1958 moved year-round to his much loved Glen Wild Lake where he had spent summers as a boy. Other than his family, the lake was his greatest joy and he loved his community, swimming, softball, music, singing, square dances and sailing. He was an avid Mets fan since their start and he was a master of corny jokes and puns.He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Doris. Loving children - Jill Griff husband Martin of Ewing, NJ; Carolyn Randall husband Robert of Sydney Australia; Jennifer Fatzler of Oakland, California; Daniel Fatzler wife Diney(Hui-Ping) of Little Falls, NJ; Grandchildren Ian Randall, Leah Griff, Mattias Fatzler, and Nina Fatzler. A sister Jean Newman husband Henry of Scotch Plains, NJ, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.He was predeceased by his father George Sr. and mother Martha (nee Mayer) and beloved son Mark. A memorial service will be held at the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 15th at 10:30am followed by a Memorial Gathering and a Celebration of His Life at the Glen Wild Lake Clubhouse, 7 Club House Road, Bloomingdale, NJ from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to the Morrison Funeral Home, Butler, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, in his memory
