George Langbein

George McClelland Langbein, of Butler, NJ, a loved Husband, Father, and Pop-Pop passed away on February 16, 2017 at the age of 86. Born in Hackensack, NJ on June 16, 1930 to Otto and Charlotte (McClelland). George grew up in Carlstadt and East Rutherford where he graduated High School. George worked full time while he continued his education and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He married his high school sweetheart AnnaMae Wurst. AnnaMae (Maisy) and George just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on December 16. George served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War where he taught water survival. George worked at Bendix/Allied Signal for over 30 years. He was a 59 year member of the Eclipse Lodge #259 of the Free and Accepted Masons of East Rutherford, and was raised to the degree of Master Mason. Education was truly important to George where he took the role of President on the Butler Board of Education in the 1960s. He spent all of his summers since childhood at the Jersey Shore where he was a lifeguard, sailor, and an avid fisherman. He especially loved spending time fishing and crabbing on the Metedeconk river and in the Atlantic Ocean on his boat "The Gemini". He was passionate about all sports but had a special love for the N.Y. Mets and N.Y. Giants. George was pre-deceased by his Mother Charlotte and Father Otto, Sister Adiene Ruymen, Sister-in-Laws Lillian Richards, and Florence Gray. He is survived by his loving wife Maisy, his adored Daughters Cheryl Malanga of Cedar Grove, Allison Frawley and her husband David of Butler, Nicole Mahoney and her husband Mike of Bloomingdale. He was "Pop-Pop" to Britt Pinci and her husband Valerio, Olivia Fredericks and husband William, and Mikael Lillianna Mahoney. "Great-Pop-Pop" to Allessio Matteo and Francesca Pinci. George is also survived by his Brother-in-Laws Russ Ruyman, Norman Gray and nieces and nephews. Friends and Family will gather at the Butler United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 25th at 10:30. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad in Georges name.
