Gerard Walter "Rod" Van Orden, 80, of Oak Ridge, NJ, passed away June 22, 2015. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, to the late LeRoy and Genevieve Van Orden. He was an Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War and also was a Gunners Mate for the Asroc Missile at the Mayport Navel Base in Jacksonville, Florida. Rod was a member of the VFW in Milton, NJ, an avid hunter and fisherman and a Volenteer Fireman for Hose Company 1 in New Foundland, NJ. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 loving years, Diana (Huber) Van Orden, three beloved children, Jill Leopardi and husband Anthony, JoAnn Van Orden and Gerard "Rod" Van Orden and wife Julieann, four cherished grandchildren, Mark and Courtney Leopardi and Michael Van Orden and Robert John Harrison. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.Viewing hours will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 5pm to 9pm at Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 am also at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Mt. Rest Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
