Gertrude M. Degraw

Gertrude M. DeGraw, age 82, passed away on Tuesday the 25th of April at Morristown Medical Center. Born May 8, 1934 in Bloomingdale, N.J. to Elmer and Clara Marion, Gert was the youngest of eight siblings. She overcame a long-term childhood illness to lead a long, happy life. She received her education at Saint Anthonys School in Butler and started working at Aircraft Radio Corporation as a teenager. She continued working throughout her life as an electronic inspector at a variety of different transistor companies. Gert raised her family and lived the majority of her life in Boonton Township where she enjoyed hosting parties and being with family and friends. She was a social butterfly and loved music, dancing and Lifetime movies. A genuinely wonderful person, her positive energy radiated through her every action. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Ahern, son-in-law Donald Ahern and two granddaughters, Dana and Amber Ahern all of whom live in Rockaway, N.J. and brought her great joy throughout her life. Viewing hours will be held on Friday, April 28th ,2017 from 10am to 12pm at the Morrison Funeral Home 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. A Mass will be offered at 12:30 pm at St. Anthony RC Church also on Friday. Burial to follow Mass at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Butler, NJ.
