Hugh V. Callahan

Hugh "Vince" CallahanIndustrial Engineer Hugh "Vince" Callahan, age 83, of Bloomingdale, NJ, formerly of Oakland, NJ, died peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Lakeview Advanced Care Center in Wayne, NJ. Born in Plainfield, NJ, he lived in Massachusetts, Long Island, and New Jersey. Vince attended Newark College of Engineering and was a graduate of Northeastern University. He was Chief Industrial Engineer with both Johnson & Johnson and Litton Industries. He then moved on to several private companies as Plant Manager, General Manager, and Vice President. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Vince is survived by his six beloved children, Seana Scognamiglio and husband Guy of West Milford, NJ; Timothy Callahan and wife Gita of Redondo Beach, CA; Sheila (Vogel) Nyhagen and husband Scott of Martinez, CA; Eric Callahan and wife Maria of Ringwood, NJ; Sharon Callahan of East Windsor, NJ; and Brenda Ostertag and husband Eric of High Point, NC. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Justin Scognamiglio and wife Terrianne and their children Blake and Kylie; Ken Scognamiglio and wife Tara and their children Juliana and Colton; Danielle Scognamiglio and fianc Derrick Jurgensen; Lindsay and Kyle Callahan; David Vogel and wife Leah, and Kristin Vogel; Jessica, Zachary, and Joshua Callahan; and Mary, Luke, Emily, and Seth Ostertag. Vince is also survived by three loving siblings, Roy Callahan of Reno, NV; Una Cot of North Plainfield, NJ; and Jeri O'Hehir of Dunellen, NJ as well as devoted sisters-in-law Clara Callahan of Arlington Heights, IL and Betty Callahan of Laguna Niguel, CA. He is pre-deceased by parents James and Kathleen (McKenna) Callahan of Counties Tyrone and Monaghan, Ireland; and brothers Gerald Callahan, Peter Callahan, Reverend Raymond Callahan, Austin Callahan, and James Callahan; and brother-in-law Ronald O'Hehir. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, West Milford, NJ.
