Jacqueline Maffatone

July 26, 1945 — March 9, 2019

Jacqueline (Jackie) Maffatone , age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 9th, 2019. Jackie was born July 26th, 1945 in Paterson, NJ. She was the daughter of Carmella (Corvo) Gulino and Jack Gulino. She graduated from St. Johns Cathedral High School in Paterson. In 1965, Jackie married the love of her life Anthony (Tony) Maffatone on August 7th. Together they raised their two daughters in Bloomingdale, NJ where she resided for over 30 years. Most recently she resided at The Chelsea Bald Eagle in West Milford close to her two daughters. There she quickly became a beloved resident who all the staff members just couldnt help but love like everyone else who ever met her. She was affectionately known as "mayor" who knew absolutely everyone and was treated with love by all there. She enjoyed all her games, especially bingo, mahjongg, wheelchair bocci and knitting. Jackies greatest pleasures in life were shopping, entertaining and feeding everyone. She was an amazing cook and could feed an army at the drop of a hat. For many years, Jackie and Tony hosted Christmas Day for friends and family that ranged from up to 100 guests. Together they cooked everything and looked forward to that day all year long, and 30 years later people still vividly remember those Christmass. Jackie also had a swimming pool and many summer weekends were spent with friends and family who would enjoy her food and entertainment by the pool. Even though she couldnt swim watching everyone enjoy the pool gave her great pleasure. In addition to her love of entertaining was her love to be entertained as in her frequent trips to Disney World, her favorite place on earth. Her last visit was several years ago where she treated her family to an amazing trip full of laughter and wonder, including watching Grandma maneuver her electric scooter. It only took her a couple of days to figure it out but no pedestrians were actually harmed in the process, not really. She also loved her frequent visits to the Jersey Shore, especially LBI and visiting the Barnegat Lighthouse. Her greatest, greatest role she said she ever had was worlds best grandmother to her five grandchildren, Kristen, Kevin, Austin, Jack and Anthony, who she lived and breathed for every day. She taught them her love of laughter, cooking, and family and forever instilled in them that family is everything. Unconditional love at its finest. They couldnt have had a better grandmother. She treated every life obstacle with grace and humor. Never complained about anyone or anything. Always a smile on her face. She is predeceased by her husband Anthony (2000), her parents Carmella and Jack. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Gadomski and husband Rich, Tammy Hopler and her husband Greg, her five beloved grandchildren, her sister Maxine Rupp and her husband Bill, her sister-in-law Lorraine Maffatone, her niece Christine Presti and her husband Tony, her niece Amy Bruno and her husband Phil, her nephew Billy Rupp, her great nieces and nephews, and her many close friends who became her family. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food bank in honor of her love of feeding everyone she could.
