James Harold Anderson

James Harold Anderson, age 80, of Kinnelon formerly of Henderson Nevada died suddenly at his home on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Jim was born April 14, 1944 in New York City, the son of the late Joseph and the late Betty Jean (Tubbs) Anderson.


James had a 30 year career in the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam war where he did two tours and also served in operation Desert Storm. In addition, he served as an independent duty sailor for 20 years serving in Gaeta, Italy. He received two Meritorious Unit Commendation awards and the Southwest Asia Medal with one bronze star. Jim graduated Butler High School in 1962 and prior to that he was one of the first graduating classes from Stony Brook elementary school in Kinnelon, New Jersey.  Jim loved to fix things around the house and was known to paint and make architectural drawings. A little known fact was that after his retirement from the Navy, he established a business in Nevada making slot machines for Las Vegas casinos. In recent years he spent much of his spare time volunteering for local animal shelters .


He is survived by his devoted wife of 13 loving years, Toni Fraticelli -Anderson; his beloved granddaughters, Christina and her husband Jamie; Amy and her husband Cliff; and Sabrina; along with his two cherished, great granddaughters, Haley and Brittany. He is also survived by his sisters,  Pamela and Pat of Mount Bethel, PA and Penny and Bonnie of Hudson, FL; and one brother,  John of Apache Junction, Arizona.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kinnelon Volunteer Animal Shelter, 2 Kiel Avenue  #252, Kinnelon, NJ 07405 or the Skyland Sanctuary and Rescue 50 Compton Rd., Wantage NJ 07461 in his memory.


At the families request all services will be private. All arrangements entrusted to the Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home Butler, New Jersey .
