James Mcmackin Jr

James McMackin Jr was born on January 31, 1945, to his parents James McMackin Sr and his mother Margaret (Brown) McMackin. His sister Jane Ann welcomed her new baby brother. In 1953 James brother Daniel was born. He briefly lived in New York City and, in 1953, the family moved to Fair Lawn New Jersey where Jim lived for many years. He later resided in Woodcliff Lake and Teaneck. He worked in New York City as a dockworker for the family business, Saratoga Transportation. When the company was sold, Jim retired. Jim was an avid bowler and enjoyed belonging to several leagues over the years. He bowled many perfect games and he and his teammates took home many prizes and trophies. He loved to walk, and his favorite outing was to walk ten miles from Fair Lawn to Fort Lee NJ to have lunch at this favorite hot dog place. Then he would walk home. So, he would think nothing of a stroll of a mile or two to visit his favorite deli or coffee shop. He was quite a photographer. Especially when he worked in New York City he would photograph people in local businesses going about their day and performing their jobs. He had an eye for the unusual subjects, which made his many photo albums very interesting. Jim also collected coins and would spend hours researching them against the coin catalogs to determine whether he had found some rare and valuable item. He never struck it rich with his collection but enjoyed his time spent on his hobby. Jim passed away in his sleep after a brief illness. He will be missed by his surviving brother Daniel McMackin, his sister-in-law Paula and his niece Theresa. Viewing hours will be held Tuesday, March 29th 2022 from 4 to 8 pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral service will beheld Wednesday 10am also at the funeral home. All other services will be held in private. . There are no gallery images.
