Jeffrey Howard Crum, 67 years young of Hewitt, New Jersey passed away suddenly on June 11, 2023.
Jeff was born on April 16, 1956, to Howard and Doris (Neill) Crum in Pompton Plains, New Jersey and lived for a short time in West Milford before moving to Mt. Tabor.
He was a graduate of Parsippany Hills High School in 1974.
Jeff was truly a jack of all trades. He started his career as a union butcher for Foodtown of Mt. Tabor. Soon after Jeff joined the Carpenters Union and became a member of Local 254. In the interim, Jeff was employed for a short time by Parsippany DPW and Denville Line Painting. He then returned to the Carpenters Union and retired from there in 2019.
Jeff proudly served as a lifetime member and past Chief (1989 – 1990) of the Mount Tabor Volunteer Fire Department.
In 1993, he moved his family back to West Milford where he coached/watched his children play sports. He had many hobbies including playing in the men’s softball league where he made many friends. He enjoyed fishing, whether it be on the lake, ocean or from shore. He also had interests in hunting, farming, a love for Golden Retrievers and the Las Vegas (Oakland) Raiders.
Jeff was predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Mildred (nee Law) Crum, brothers-in-law Patrick Capo, and Michael Davenport. He is survived by three beautiful children Jodi Crum, Lake Hopatcong, Jared (Jaime) Crum Gilbert, Arizona and Joshua Crum, Dunellen. Two grandchildren, Kaden David and Dylan Jane Crum, Gilbert, Arizona. He is also survived by his loving sisters Cheryl Capo, Mt Tabor, Leann (Peter) Eck Raleigh, NC, and Jennifer (John) Rickershauser, Morristown and 3 nieces and a nephew, along with many great nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service for Jeff on Thursday July 13th from 4pm – 7pm at The Morrison Etheridge Funeral Home in Butler, NJ. Donations can be made to Mt. Tabor Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 73, Mt. Tabor NJ, 07878 in his memory.
