Joan A Howatt, age 80, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Kinnelon, died Friday, November 30, 2007 at her residence in Bloomingdale.Mrs. Howatt was born October 20, 1927 in Kearny, NJ, the daughter of the late George and the late Julia (Casey) McBride. She worked for Bloomingdale Health Care Center Bloomingdale, NJ, as a Health Aid. Prior to her marriage she also worked as a statistician. Active in her community she served for many years as a volunteer in area hospitals and sang on the stage of Carnegie Hall with the Masterworks Chorus. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen McMinn of Bloomingdale, and Elizabeth Howatt of Marshall's Creek, PA, a son Christopher of Weehawken, NJ, son-in-laws Tim McMinn of Bloomingdale, and Carlos Iglesias of Weehawken, NJ, a cherished grandson Timmy Mc Minn of Butler,a family friend Kathy Harrison of Bloomingdale,a brother Kenneth, of Wall Township NJ, and a brother-in-law, William Howatt of Kearny. Joan was pre-deceased by her son Joseph in 1991 and her devoted husband Herbert Leo in 1998.There will be a Memorial Service held on Wednesday, December 5th, 2007, 11:00am in the Chapel of Our Lady of Magnificat RC Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ.The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to Saint Barnabus Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 95 Old Short Hills Rd., West Orange, NJ, 07052, in her memory.
