Joan Decker

Joan Decker, 78, of Butler, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016. Joan was born in Orange, NJ to the late Catherine Miller (nee Norman) and William Fregans. She was raised by Catherine and Eddie Miller and later moved to Butler, NJ. She graduated from Butler High School in 1956 where she proudly attended her 50th class reunion. Joan was married to David J. Decker 1958-1983 and had four children. Joan worked for Konica Medical Corporation, Mahwah, NJ. She was a breast cancer survivor and continued to work as she won that battle. Upon retiring from Konica Joan volunteered weekly at the Chilton Memorial Hospital gift shop. Joan was an avid gardener, cook, and Nana. She loved home improvement projects and creating a home and yard where many loved to visit. She had an infectious sense of humor and positive approach to life. She is survived by her beloved son Greg Decker and his wife Cathy of Highland Lakes, Michael Decker of Bloomfield, Brenda Decker of Lake Stockholm and Deanna Westervelt and her husband Donald of Becket, Massachussets, her loving sisters, Betty Johnson and Lynn Shepard, and her cherished grandchildren Megan Decker, Erin Decker and Michael Donohue. Viewing hours will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 4-8pm at the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held 7pm also on Wednesday at the funeral home. The final disposition will be held in private.
