John A. Holzberger, age 94, of Butler, passed away on February 17, 2016. John was born in Paterson, the son of the late George and Anna Holzberger . John was a faithful Christian all his life and for many year was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pompton Lakes. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Marine Corps and was a tax enforcer for the state of New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, ice skating, boating, hunting and hiking. He flew a small airplane out of Teterboro Airport. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ena Jean (Anderson) of 59 wonderful years, his loving siblings, Herbert Holzberger of CT and Dorothy Holmes of Ramsey, NJ. Also surviving are 10 cherished nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brother George. A viewing will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Morrison funeral home 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ.
