John "Jack" Guenter, Sr., age 85, lifelong resident of Butler, died Sunday, April 20, 2014. Mr. Guenter was born February 22, 1929 at Butler, NJ the son of the late Frederick and the late Cecilia (Marion) Guenter. He served in the US Army, was an Exempt Fireman of the Kinney Hose Co. in Butler, a former member of the Butler Special Police worked as a mechanic for INMONT Corp, Hawthorne, NJ and as a maintenance mechanic for the Richard Butler School also in Butler. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 loving years, Helen (Morse) Guenter, his two beloved sons, John Jr. and wife Sarah and Jeremy and his wife Fumiko, two loving siblings, William Guenter and Patricia Struble, two cherished grandchildren, Jason and Ethan and many nieces and nephews. Viewing hours will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 4pm to 8 pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be held Thursday 10am also at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Mt. Rest Cemetery, Butler. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Butler Fire Department 26-28 Carey Ave. Butler, NJ 07405 in his memory.
