John R.H. Gilmour

John R.H. Gilmour, age 91, of Westfield N.J., passed away, Monday, January 1, 2007 at Milford Manor, West Milford, N.J. Mr. Gilmour was born July 27, 1915 in Staten Island, NY, the son of the late Anthony and the late Mabel (Maguire) Gilmour. He served in the Army Air Corps. from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was employed by Rutgers University Graduate School of Business, Newark, NJ, as College Professor. Later in his career he transferred to the Undergraduate school, also in Newark, to create a very successful accounting program. Mr. Gilmour was a member of N.J. Inventors Society and past president, Teachers Union, Editor of N.J. CPA Association Journal, lifetime member of St. Andrews Society- the oldest charity in the United States. He completed his under graduate degree at Columbia University in New York City, and received his Masters in Business at NYU. Mr. Gilmour was Professor at Rutgers University for 36 years starting in 1948. Upon his retirement in 1984 from Rutgers the John R.H. Gilmour Annual Public Accounting Award was established in his name. Devoted husband of Elizabeth . Beloved father of Barbara Lea Rawson and husband Doug, John R.B. Gilmour and wife Deborah, Laurie Sue Aylward and husband Jim, and pre deceased by Elizabeth LeBreton. Cherished grandfather of five, and great-grandfather of seven. Loving brother of Kay Skeele. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, January 5th, 2007, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. The funeral will be Saturday 10:00 am, at Cranford United Methodist Church, 201 Lincoln Ave East, Cranford, NJ. Entombment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ, on Saturday.
