Joseph C. "Poppy" Van Dyke, age 76, of 68 Bartholdi Ave, Butler died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family.Mr. Van Dyke was born in Waldwick, NJ, the son of the late Henry and the late Theresa (Morgan) Van Dyke. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 during Korean War, worked as the Manager for the Butler Guest House in Butler, NJ, and was also the maintenance manager for Scott Forseman in Oakland, NJ, for 13 years.Mr. Van Dyke was a member of the Pompton Valley Christian Assembly in Butler, and a Minister of Visitation for the church, where he took part in visiting many hospitals and nursing homes. He is survived by his devoted wife Barbara Ann(Jones) Van Dyke of 50 years, his beloved daughter Jo Ann Wisher and husband John, a cherished granddaughter, Bethany Wisher, five loving siblings, George and his wife Peggy, Catherine Beesley, Stella Dubbeld and husband Aart, Edward, and Howard and wife Beverly. He is pre deceased in life by two brothers Ronald and Jack. Also surviving is a dear sister in law Doris Van Dyke, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from 2:00 -4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm at The CORNERSTONE CHAPEL 620 State Route 23 North, Pompton Plains, NJ. The funeral will be Wednesday 11:00am also at the church. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
