Obituary Joseph Elvena, age 91, of Bloomingdale died Sunday, April 3, 2022, surrounded by his family. Mr. Elvena was born in Hells Kitchen Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Joseph Elvena and the late Ella Beattie. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean war and was one of the many men who fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. He worked as a longshoreman on the docks for over 50 years and was a third-degree Knight at the Butler Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his five beloved children, Joseph Elvena, Thomas Elvena, Patricia Spaziani, Pamela Hiller, and Chris Elvena, loving sisters, Kekai Ruchstuhl, Marina Elvena, Joeann Steadley and Candy Wain, his cherished grandchildren, Michael Elvena, Vincent Elvena, Brian Taggart, Joseph Taggart, Kelly Taggart, William Hiller, Brendan Hiller, and Kayleigh Elvena, his adored great grandchildren, Maci, Michael and Madelyn Elvena and Elliott Taggart. Joe was predeceased by his devoted wife, Patricia (nee Knipe), dear grandson, Justin Hiller and loving siblings, Ronald, Bobby and Gloria. Joseph loved his family. He spent most of his quality time taking his grandchildren hunting and fishing. Viewing hours will be Thursday, April 7th, 2022, from 4 to 8pm at The Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Avenue, Butler, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held Friday 11am at St. Anthony RC Church Butler, NJ. The final disposition will be private. .
