Joseph F. DeFlora, 93 of Wyckoff, NJ (formerly of Waldwick), died peacefully on September 14.He was predeceased by his parents Nicola DeFlora and Carmella DeSimone and his sister Rose DeFlora, all of Lodi.
After graduating from Lodi High School, he received a Bachelors degree from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. He then enlisted in the Navy where he served during the Korean War. Near the end of his service, he met his wife Bernice Sturno of Paterson and they were married in 1954. The couple lived in Newport Rhode Island, Lodi and then Paterson before moving to Waldwick where they lived for 60 years. In 1959, Joe received an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was also a founding member and the first Grand Knight of the Waldwick Knights of Columbus Council #5257.
Joe is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bernice (Sturno) and his six children Barbara Hosmer, Kenneth DeFlora, Nicholas DeFlora, Janice Tuohy, Ellen Sciortino and Joseph A. DeFlora, as well as his 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and sister Marie Attanasio of Lodi.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:00 am at Church of the Nativity in Midland Park, NJ. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow mass at St. Lukes cemetery in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
