It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Peter Greig of Butler, New Jersey on March 23, 2023. Joe was born March 21, 1942, in Paterson, and raised in North Haledon to mother and father Dorothy and Joseph Greig. Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Ray; sixty-one years where they resided in Butler, New Jersey. He was the proud father of four children: Sharon Bustamante (Lou), Joseph Greig (Dawn), Raymond Greig (Darcey), and Kevin Greig (Nicole). He cherished his ten grandchildren: Tyler Greig, Cody Ursin (Heather), Jarrett Greig, Louis Bustamante, Brielle Bustamante, Trevor Greig, Jenna Greig, Kyle Greig, Sydney Greig, Ryan Greig, and one great-granddaughter, Nova Ursin. Joe is also survived by three siblings: Robert "Bob" Greig, Doug Greig, Dorothy Presing, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe graduated from Hawthorne High School and started working at his family business, "Greig Brothers & Sons Carpets," until he and his brother Bob opened "Greig Carpets," in Pompton Lakes. Joe was a hard-working man; after retirement he worked part-time at "Faber Brothers". Joe especially loved spending time with his wife Betty, going on day trips to casinos and family vacations in the Outer Banks and Jersey Shore. He enjoyed his time with family, friends, and loved his bragging rights for all his grandchildren, whether it be sporting events or school accomplishments. Joe's favorite activities included: bowling, golfing, tending to his fish tank, and gardening, while enjoying his fantasy football and baseball teams. Joe coached football for the Butler Junior Bulldogs and baseball for the Tri-Boro Little League. Joe passed away at the age of eighty-one surrounded by his loving family. Joe will be greatly missed and is at peace in the arms of the Lord.
