Growing up as a young girl, she spent many summers at her Aunts home in Flushing Queens, N.Y., where she met a handsome young man named Patrick Flatley, who was playing stickball in the street, whom she would eventually marry. Josephine graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School for Girls in Brooklyn, and then with great pride, from St. Vincents School of Nursing in Manhattan in 1961. She went on to work for many years as a nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit at St. Vincents Hospital. She would eventually re-connect with Patrick, they were married in September 1967 and raised their family in Suffern N.Y. Josephine loved being a stay at home mother and raising her three children. She loved summers spent with friends at a local beach club, our annual beach vacation in Wildwood Crest N.J., and spending time with family in Queens N.Y., Pennsylvania, and Arizona. After she and Patrick retired, she enjoyed spending time in Fort Myers Beach, F.L. each winter, watching her children get married and start their own families, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved cooking, especially her mothers Irish Soda Bread, reading, crocheting and knitting, cross stitch, playing board games and Uno with her grandchildren. She cherished all her time spent with her loving husband Patrick, her children, grandchildren and family and friends. She was a feisty, strong-willed Irish redhead, who fiercely fought through the many health conditions she endured over her lifetime. Her Catholic faith provided her with guidance and comfort throughout lifes challenges. She was truly an amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly by all.
