Linda J. Burns

b. May 5, 1949

Linda J. Burns, 73, of Butler, New Jersey, died suddenly on Saturday, 27 August, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on 05 May 1949 in Paterson, NJ, to Aldo and Eleanor Sartori (nee Lawrence). Linda graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, NJ in 1966. Following graduation, she became a bookkeeper for Faber Associates before ultimately retiring as the assistant plant comptroller for American National Can in Lincoln Park. Linda married the man of her dreams (tall-ish, dark, and handsome!) on 18 April 1970, and from that day on, she was proud to be Mrs. Patrick Burns, Chief Domestic Officer of the Burns clan. Linda was world-renowned for her honesty, not holding back her opinion, and her knack for "telling it like it is." She always told you the truth, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. She was genuine to a fault, a pussycat at heart (a lion), yet she sugar-coated nothing. Everyone always knew where they stood with Linda. She liked you, or she didn't; it was black or white. Her words of encouragement, wisdom, and comfort kept us in line (sometimes). She was well gifted in needlework and crochet, but she was a terrible gardener. Her cookies were fantastic, her lasagna pretty decent, and if anyone would like a copy of her homemade gravy recipe, I recommend that you don't. Linda was an avid reader, a huge fan of puzzle games, and spamming the inboxes of her loved ones with terrible jokes she found in the dark recesses of the internet. She had a life-long love affair with deviled eggs, mashed turnips, and apple pie a la mode. Linda is survived by her daughter Kimberly Burns and daughter-in-law Karissa Lozenski; her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Sartori; and her cherished sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Martin Staniec. Linda also leaves behind her niece and nephew, Jacqueline Flaherty, Mark Sartori and his dear wife Beth; and their children, Nicholas Flaherty, Tyler Sartori, and Morgan Sartori, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by her Aunt Madeline Muth and her cousin Sharon Guzowski for whose love and support she was always grateful and her grand dogs, Punky Jane and Gustav. In addition to expressing her love for her family, Linda also wished to thank her friends especially her partner-in-crime (mostly misdemeanors), Janet Recktenwald for sticking by her and all the laughs throughout the years. If you are reading this and still have a book she loaned you, you may keep it as a parting gift. Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Patrick Burns (and beloved pets Caesar and Finnegan). All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace (when pertinent), and undying love and caring for them. Linda loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Huberts Animal Welfare Center in memory of Linda. .
