Lois Eleanor Scott WeisLois was born in 1925 and raised in Maplewood by Richard and Jesse (Cormack) Scott. As a child she loved horseback riding and was a counselor at Camp of the Woods in the Adirondacks, NY. She attended Montclair State Teachers College where she met Henry Ernest Weis of Wayne. They were married in 1950. Lois and Henry lived in Kinnelon from 1964 until her death on Friday November 14, 2014. Lois was 85 years old.Beginning in 1960 Lois worked first at Clifton High School as a chemistry teacher, later changing over to James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell where she taught chemistry and worked as a guidance counselor. Team-teaching biology and earth science, Lois and Henry worked a couple of evenings each week at Northeastern Bible College in Essex Fells from the late 1970s until its closing in 1994.Lois shared a love of outdoors with Henry; summer trips involved camping, hiking, canoeing, and water skiing. Snow skiing and even a brief stint with motorcycles engaged her interest. Lois participated in elder hostels after retirement. She enjoyed travel through Europe, England and Scotland, and Turkey. She loved Barnegat Bay from childhood and had a second home there.She is predeceased by her husband Henry. She is survived by three children Craig (wife Nancy), Loren (husband Jim), and Eric (wife Nancy). She also has four grandchildren, Meredith (husband Santino), Eden (husband Mike), Julia, and Maria, and one great-grandchild, Violet.Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, November 18th , 2014, from 4-7:30 PM at the Morrison Funeral Home, 86 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Wednesday at 10 AM, also at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery, Butler, NJ. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to the Ringwood Christian School, 30 Carletondale Road, Ringwood, NJ 07456 in Lois's name, as part of their annual fund drive.
